At this event organized by GARNA, enjoy a lecture under the stars, followed by viewing of the exquisite dark skies of the Wet Mountain Valley through a 14” Celestron telescope. We’ll see star clusters, nebulas and galaxies, plus the new crescent moon and Saturn.
The viewing and lecture will be led by Clint Smith. Clint is a retired lawyer and judge who moved to the Westcliffe area 7 years ago. He’s a self taught astronomer in charge of the observatory and is Vice President of Dark Skies, Inc. of the Wet Mountain Valley. Jim Bradburn, President of Dark Skies of the Wet Mountain Valley, recently spoke in Salida at an event sponsored by Central Colorado Conservancy. Now is your chance to see those dark skies in person!
At 5:30 pm, the group will enjoy dinner together prior to the program at Chappie’s Mountain View Bar and Grill in Westcliffe. The lecture and night sky viewing will take place after dinner at the nearby observatory from 7:00 until 8:30 pm. Westcliffe/Silver Cliff is about an hour’s drive from Salida; carpooling will be available.

Many GARNA programs require a Liability Release Form be filled out each calendar year.
Your registration is secured upon receipt of payment, as long as there space is still available in a program. If you prefer not to register online (recommended), you may mail a check, made out to “GARNA” to the address below or stop by the office. Please include a note with the program you are registering for. Be aware, some programs sell out quickly, and we cannot confirm your spot with a mailed registration.

Cancellation policy:
If we are notified of your need to cancel by 24 hours of program date, your program fee will be refunded except for a $3.00 administrative fee. No refunds within 24 hours or after the event (but most events are transferable). If minimum enrollment has not been met 2 days before program date, programs will be cancelled and we will refund the full amount.
