Final Ski with a Naturalist Tour at Monarch Mountain

GARNA is again partnering with Monarch Mountain and the US Forest Service Salida Ranger District to offer locals and visitors a free on-hill ski naturalist tour. Participants will learn about the history of recreation on Monarch Pass, ski area-USFS partnership, Monarch’s green mission, and forest and wildlife ecology.
The 2016-7 naturalist is Tommy Skaja. Tommy has been recreation permit administrator for two years with the US Forest Salida Ranger District. He as a BA in Recreation from Western State CO University. Tommy was a ski instructor at Monarch for 6 seasons. He is excited to be this year’s naturalist to share with Monarch guests the importance of public lands for recreation and multiple uses and install appreciation for this treasure..
The tour departs every Friday at 11:00 am. The group meets at the sign near Ski Patrol headquarters across from the Pioneer lift. Guests of all ages and abilities are welcome. The tour is free, follows all beginner runs and lasts for about 45 minutes to an hour. Next time you’re enjoying skiing or boarding at Monarch Mountain, enhance your experience by attending a Ski Naturalist Tour.
Many GARNA programs require a liability release form be filled out each calendar year.
Your registration is secured upon receipt of payment. If you prefer not to register online (recommended), you may mail a check, made out to “GARNA” to the address below. Please include a note with the program you are registering for.

If we are notified of your need to cancel within 24 hours of program date, your program fee will be refunded except for a $3.00 administrative fee. If minimum enrollment has not been met by program date, programs will be cancelled 2 days prior to the date and we will refund the full amount.
