GARNA Chapters and Friends

The Greater Arkansas River Nature Association (GARNA) welcomes groups representing a major program or geographic area to become associated as “chapters.” This page describes the general characteristics of GARNA chapters, and separate pages give information on the current chapters Friends of Fourmile, Salida Community Garden Chapter, and Arkansas Headwaters Wilderness Partners, our newest chapter.

GARNA Bylaws - Article IX  - Chapters

Section 1 A chapter may represent a geographical area or program interest and be formed upon approval of the associations Board of Directors.
Section 2 Each chapter shall recommend a representative to the Board of Directors, with election made by general membership vote.
Section 3 Chapters may elect its own officers as needed.
Section 4 Each chapter shall advise the Executive Director of the names, addresses and phone numbers of the Chapter officers.
Section 5

Members of each chapter will pay dues to and be members of GARNA based on the current membership fee schedule.

Section 6 Each chapter will have an account within GARNA's financial records.  Chapter financial statements shall be available each quarter.
Section 7 Each Chapter shall make an annual report of its activities to the Executive Director by the annual membership meeting.
Section 8 Each Chapter may conduct the business of its members and develop projects for membership participation so long as this does not violate the objectives, purposes and policies of the associations Board of Directors.
Section 9 Chapters will adhere to the slines and by-laws developed by the Board of Directors to ensure continuity of programs and projects.  Chapters not adhering to the guidelines will be dissolved within 90 days after receiving written notice from association's Executive Director based on Board approval.
Section 10 If a Chapter becomes inactive for any reason; all records, funds, equipment, supplies and other property become the absolute property of the association.  The chapter will be officially dissolved after receiving written notice duly executed by the associations Chairperson and Executive Director.
