GARNA is again partnering with Monarch Mountain and the US Forest Service Salida Ranger District to offer locals and resort guests a free on-hill ski naturalist tour. Participants will learn about the history of recreation on Monarch Pass, ski area-USFS partnership, Monarch’s green mission, and forest and wildlife ecology. Alex Rudney, the silviculturist with the Pike/San Isabel National Forest, Salida Ranger District will lead a snowshoe hike around old Monarch Pass. The group will observe evidence and results of spruce bark beetle infestation and other insects and diseases affecting trees in our forests. Reading, PhD Vice President for Conservation Denver Zoological Foundation Richard Reading, PhD is the Vice President for Conservation and founder of the Department of Conservation Biology at the Denver Zoological Foundation. If we are notified of your need to cancel within 24 hours of the program date, your program fee will be refunded except for a $3.00 administrative fee. If minimum enrollment has not been met, programs will be cancelled 2 days before the schedule program date and your fee will be fully refunded. Please register early!
