Nature is much more than wilderness. When you think about it, just about everything in the Upper Arkansas Valley, whether skiing, hiking, fishing, rafting, ranching, agriculture, or the service industry that supports these activities and the visitors they attract, is in some manner related to nature.
While most of us are familiar with the many recreational activities nature provides, we may not know much about the nature-related businesses that have shaped this area over the last century and a half and those newer industries that continue to strengthen the region’s nature-based economy. This year GARNA is conducting a series of visits to some of these businesses to learn how they operate and work to maintain the open space and rural lifestyle that residents and visitors find so attractive about this special area.
On a guided tour, the group will learn about the dairy goat business and tour the barns, cheese making facility and cheese cave. Supervised children (and adults!) may pet the baby goats. Jumpin’ Good Goat Dairy is dedicated to sustainable agriculture, the education of local food systems, respectfully raised livestock and delicious cheese making.
Although GARNA does not officially organize carpooling, a meeting spot in Salida will be arranged for those interested in sharing a ride to the dairy north of Buena Vista.
Cost: $6 for GARNA members, $7.50 for non members. This includes the cost of the Jumpin’ Good Goat tour and a small administrative fee for GARNA.

Many GARNA programs require a Liability Release Form be filled out each calendar year.
Your registration is secured upon receipt of payment, as long as there space is still available in a program. If you prefer not to register online (recommended), you may mail a check, made out to “GARNA” to the address below or stop by the office. Please include a note with the program you are registering for. Be aware, some programs sell out quickly, and we cannot confirm your spot with a mailed registration.

Cancellation policy:
If we are notified of your need to cancel by 24 hours of program date, your program fee will be refunded except for a $3.00 administrative fee. No refunds within 24 hours or after the event (but most events are transferable). If minimum enrollment has not been met 2 days before program date, programs will be cancelled and we will refund the full amount.
