GARNA Program Calendar
Salida 6th Grade Field Trip
May 20 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
The project we are serving on Thursday, the Salida Trail Ecological Restoration Project, is a community-based collaborative effort that brings nature into downtown Salida and connects people to the great outdoors through hands on stewardship activities. The STERP partnership works with the City of Salida, with support from Chaffee County, to manage this network of open space corridors for multiple benefits including wildlife and pollinator habitat creation, native plant community restoration, filtration of storm water runoff, and enhancement of the trail user’s experience. Salida area Parks, Open-space, and Trails (SPOT) takes the lead on trail building, expanding a network of trails that provide safe transportation routes for Salida’s growing neighborhoods. Central Colorado Conservancy takes the lead on ecological restoration projects including noxious weed management, native species plantings, water quality and wildlife habitat enhancement projects. The Greater Arkansas River Nature Association (GARNA) takes the lead on environmental education turning this trail corridor into a living laboratory for studying land use history, soil health, water quality, bird life, and more.
Many GARNA programs require a liability release form be filled out each calendar year.
