Snowshoe Hike and Animal Tracking
February 16 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
Don’t let the winter weather keep you from enjoying an outdoor adventure. Gear up and join outdoor guide Scot Bealer and wildlife photographer Lea Frye on a moderate snowshoeing expedition, exploring what animal signs the snow reveals. The hike will begin at Collegiate Peaks Campground, 7.5 miles west of Buena Vista, halfway up Cottonwood Pass. Bealer and Frye will lead a snowshoeing trek up to 3 miles through relatively easy terrain with little elevation gain, but participants should be prepared for strenuous hiking to follow tracks and signs of winter wildlife wherever they are found. Participants should plan to dress appropriately with layers and waterproof gear. Snowshoes are mandatory, and available to rent at Salida Mountain Sports or the Trailhead in Buena Vista.
