Goals

Following the January 25 Strategic Planning meeting, we will develop Strategies and Tactics for these goals:

  • To work with “the community” of Chaffee County to include individuals, nonprofits, municipalities, businesses, organizations, and visitors
  • Establish Task Forces to identify “the community’s” environmental concerns and empower these Task Force to establish goals, strategies, and tactics to propose and initiate solutions and support funding for these concerns.
  • To inform and guide the 2019 Chaffee County Comprehensive Plan so that it includes a systems approach to management of waste.
  • Educate “the community” about opportunities and options for practicing sustainability by reducing consumption of single use items.
  • Extend the life of the County landfill by increasing diversion rates.
  • To assess energy use and efficiency in “the community”; create an energy auditing program; and provide sustainable options and practices to residential and commercial users.
  • To explore funding sources to support the various tasks that have associated costs and interface with similar programming by GARNA to support shared initiatives.

Strategy

  • Identify the environmental impact of Chaffee County’s growth on our landfill, public lands, water, energy.
  • Inform ourselves, citizens, nonprofits, municipalities, businesses, organizations, and visitors
  • Develop solutions

Tactics

  • Each Task Force will form partnerships, funding, and find resources to achieve their goals.
