Angling Education

In the spring 2014, GARNA offered Salida, Buena Vista, and Lake County area youth free fly or spin fishing excursions with a professional guide from one of three local outfitters. ArkAnglers, Dvorak Expeditions and Blue River Anglers took kids ages 6-15 out on local fisheries. Participants then earned a free fly or spin fishing set up.

Hunting Education

In June, 2014 Colorado Parks and Wildlife offered two free half-day shooting and archery education courses for area youth. The program is funded by a Colorado Parks and Wildlife Partners in the Outdoors grant awarded to GARNA. The program took place at the Chaffee County Shooting Range off of Hwy. 285 adjacent to the Chaffee County landfill. CPW provided all of the necessary equipment and certified instructors led four different stations. Participants learned safe handling of pellet guns, .22’s, shotguns and bows.

GARNA is the Arkansas River Valley’s only local broadly focused conservation and educational institution with non-profit status. GARNA is supported by membership fees…will you join us?
