Chaffee Heritage Open House
Date: Saturday, September 29. 2-4pm.
Location: Buena Vista Heritage Museum
Stage & Rail Tour: 4-5:30pm. Meet at the Heritage Museum (pre-registration requested)
The Colorado Road Trip Weekend is Sept 25-27, and there is no better way to celebrate Colorado’s 150th Birthday than a scenic drive through Colorado’s Byways. The Collegiate Peaks Scenic Byway, established in 2005, tells the story of the land and people who once stood where we stand. The vision of the byway began with the desire to bring awareness of the region, educate residents and visitors and preserve the scenic viewshed. The unique lollipop-shaped byway connects Buena Vista, Poncha Springs and Salida, encouraging tourism and supporting local businesses.
The Chaffee Heritage Board will be celebrating the Byway on September 26 with a community open house at the Buena Vista Heritage Museum, featuring itineraries, maps and images of the Byway and highlighting upcoming projects with ways for the community to get involved.
September 26 is also National Public Lands Day and Bike Your Park Day, and the open house will be followed by a guided biking tour of the Stage & Rail Historic Route along County Road 371 through the Midland Tunnels, led by Alan Robinson. Learn more and pre-register here.
Many GARNA programs require a Liability Release Form be filled out each calendar year.
Your registration is secured upon receipt of payment, as long as there space is still available in a program. If you prefer not to register online (recommended), you may mail a check, made out to “GARNA” to the address below or stop by the office. Please include a note with the program you are registering for. Be aware, some programs sell out quickly, and we cannot confirm your spot with a mailed registration.

Cancellation policy:
If we are notified of your need to cancel by 24 hours of program date, your program fee will be refunded except for a $3.00 administrative fee. No refunds within 24 hours or after the event (but most events are transferable). If minimum enrollment has not been met 2 days before program date, programs will be cancelled and we will refund the full amount.
