Explore the great outdoors and let your love of nature bloom with GARNA’s summer nature camps! Join GARNA instuctors as we invite campers to explore public lands in the Upper Arkansas Valley.  Campers will hike mountain trails, collect bugs in streams, experiment, journal and much more while appreciating the joys of nature.

Middle school students – we hope you’ll join us for Stream Explorers with Trout Unlimited! Learn the basics of fly fishing and conduct experiments to learn about your watershed.

Hi Ark Valley Families,

We are adjusting our model for Nature Camp under guidance provided by Chaffee County Public Health and Colorado Department of Health and Environment.  We are hosting small-group Nature Camps that will meet for 3-5 days per week, each day in the same location.  Students will be in the same small-group throughout the week, and we will be leading activities in a distanced manner to limit the possible spread of COVID-19.

The safety of campers, families and our staff is paramount to any decision we make. We want to offer a fun and engaging camp experience while still operating under social distancing guidelines.  In this light, GARNA will be making to following changes to this year’s Nature Camps.

  • Limiting camper to instructor ratio to 5:1.  Total numbers with Nature Camp small-groups at one site will be kept within CO Dept. of Public Health regulations. Currently capping at 10 campers.  Campers will be split into groups of 5 campers per 1 staff, and will be distanced from other groups with limited interaction.

  • Limiting programs to ages 7 – 11 years old. We love our younger campers, but need a maturity level that we see from campers ages 7+ to follow social distancing rules for the safety of our instructors and the other participants.
  • Staff, campers and parents dropping off campers must wear masks.
  • Staff and campers will complete wellness checks prior to each day. More info will be provided in the COVID-Imacts FAQ.
  • Campers will not share materials nor snacks.

We are excited to see students safely exploring creeks for aquatic insects, racing to finish their compass scavenger hunt, and building connections with one-another and nature, and know that time in the outdoors going on ed-ventures is important to students more than ever!  Please use the buttons above to find out more information and sign up, or be in touch if you have any questions.  The best way to reach out right now is via email –  youth@garna.org

Best,
