Chaffee Rec Adopter Workday: Vegetation Maintenance Training with the AHRA
This training, led by rangers from the Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area (AHRA), will prepare volunteers to conduct regular maintenance at Ruby Mountain and Hecla Campgrounds. Volunteers will weed whack vegetation growing into parking areas and roads (this is called “framework”) and pick up trash as necessary. We have observed that when campsites are kept clean and orderly, visitors are more likely to respect the site and leave it the way they found it. Chaffee Rec Adopters are consequently helping to keep sites clean and to improve camper’s behavior at campsites in the long-run by conducting biweekly framework.
Volunteers should be prepared to commit to independently accomplishing framework at Ruby Mountain and Hecla Junction 1-2 times per month on any day of the week. Sign up for shifts HERE.

Meet at Hecla Junction at 9 AM. We will provide all necessary tools. Wear work clothes, closed-toe shoes, and work gloves (we have extra work gloves for those who would like to borrow a pair). Bring plenty of water, snacks, a lunch, layers, and sunscreen.
The Chaffee Rec Adopters is a Chaffee County program, funded by the Common Ground Fund and run by GARNA.
Many GARNA programs require a Liability Release Form be filled out each calendar year.
Your registration is secured upon receipt of payment, as long as there space is still available in a program. If you prefer not to register online (recommended), you may mail a check, made out to “GARNA” to the address below or stop by the office. Please include a note with the program you are registering for. Be aware, some programs sell out quickly, and we cannot confirm your spot with a mailed registration.

Cancellation policy:
If we are notified of your need to cancel by 24 hours of program date, your program fee will be refunded except for a $3.00 administrative fee. No refunds within 24 hours or after the event (but most events are transferable). If minimum enrollment has not been met 2 days before program date, programs will be cancelled and we will refund the full amount.
