On Tuesday, August 18, very knowledgeable mycologist Linda McMenamy will lead a mushroom foray. At this point, the plan is to hold the event in Monarch Park but there is construction taking place there and if delayed, we may change the location. Linda will explain how to properly gather mushrooms, then participants will fan out into the woods to gather the fungi. The group will reconvene in an hour, and Linda will help with identification, particularly noting if the species is edible or not.
Linda has been hunting mushrooms for 35 years, for many years as a member of the Colorado Mycological Society. She has led forays at the Buena Vista King Boletus Mushroom Festival, cooking the mushrooms in the field for foragers to taste.
The group will carpool from Salida to Monarch Park, about a 20 minute drive up Monarch Pass on Hwy 50. The cost is $5 for GARNA members and $8 for non members. This program is full, please email info@garna.org to be put on waiting list.
Many GARNA programs require a Liability Release Form be filled out each calendar year.
Your registration is secured upon receipt of payment, as long as there space is still available in a program. If you prefer not to register online (recommended), you may mail a check, made out to “GARNA” to the address below or stop by the office. Please include a note with the program you are registering for. Be aware, some programs sell out quickly, and we cannot confirm your spot with a mailed registration.

Cancellation policy:
If we are notified of your need to cancel by 24 hours of program date, your program fee will be refunded except for a $3.00 administrative fee. No refunds within 24 hours or after the event (but most events are transferable). If minimum enrollment has not been met 2 days before program date, programs will be cancelled and we will refund the full amount.
