Join local wild foods experts Sam and Jillian Liebl for a morning of harvesting the bounty of berries we have in the Upper Arkansas Valley, including raspberries, strawberries, elderberries, huckleberries, chokecherries, gooseberries, currants, and Oregon grape. Learn how to identify these fruits and other edible plants, as well as their poisonous lookalikes, and get tips on where to search for each species.
The outing will be held at Angel of Shavano campground outside of Maysville west of Salida.
Presenters Sam and Jillian Liebl are instructors at Rift Valley Earth Skills. They have dedicated themselves to finding a sustainable way to live in the Western United States. To that end they have become students of indigenous skills–how to feed, clothe, heal, and shelter themselves as humans have for 95% of our time on this planet. They write about their life at SamAndJillian.com.
