Two popular leaders from the Crested Butte Wildflower Festival are offering their program locally. Birder Jacque Fisher and wildflower expert Ruth Runge-Barnes will share their knowledge and passion for the summer songsters and seasonal wildflowers in our area. Join us for a leisurely hike to listen to birds and identify flowers. Children 11 years and older are welcome.
The hike is described as “an easy ramble on uneven terrain” to Kelly Creek near Villa Grove in the San Luis Valley. The group will leave at 8:00 a.m. and return at approximately 1:00 p.m. Carpooling will be arranged.
Jacque teaches 7th grade language arts at Salida Middle School. Her interest in birding really took flight when she was a volunteer with the Raptor Education Foundation in Aurora. She particularly enjoys the challenge of identifying birds by ear and likens it to learning a foreign language. Ruth has always had a love of nature and she has been leading wildflower identification hikes in Crested Butte for the past 22 years. Ruth is co-author of “Wildflower Day Hikes of Chaffee County”.

Many GARNA programs require a Liability Release Form be filled out each calendar year.
Your registration is secured upon receipt of payment, as long as there space is still available in a program. If you prefer not to register online (recommended), you may mail a check, made out to “GARNA” to the address below or stop by the office. Please include a note with the program you are registering for. Be aware, some programs sell out quickly, and we cannot confirm your spot with a mailed registration.

Cancellation policy:
If we are notified of your need to cancel by 24 hours of program date, your program fee will be refunded except for a $3.00 administrative fee. No refunds within 24 hours or after the event (but most events are transferable). If minimum enrollment has not been met 2 days before program date, programs will be cancelled and we will refund the full amount.
