Explore butterfly and other pollinator habitats surrounding Chaffee County with butterfly ecologist, Sara Simonson! The day will include moderate hiking through a variety of montane streamside butterfly habitats and wildflower meadows. This hike will be led by entomologist, Sara Simonson. Sara Simonson is a graduate student in Watershed Science at Colorado State University (CSU), and she worked as a Research Associate at CSU’s Natural Resource Ecology Laboratory for 20 years. Since completing a master’s degree in butterfly ecology and conservation, Sara has worked on a variety of research and teaching projects involving Colorado’s diverse wildflowers and butterflies. Sara is interested in biological conservation, methods for field data collection, distributions of native and non-native species, and patterns of natural and human disturbances in mountain ecosystems. Sara’s latest projects are focused on using biological indicators to extend historical timelines and better understand ecology in snow systems. She is also an advocate for pollinators and encouraging public participation in science.

Many GARNA programs require a Liability Release Form be filled out each calendar year.
Your registration is secured upon receipt of payment, as long as there space is still available in a program. If you prefer not to register online (recommended), you may mail a check, made out to “GARNA” to the address below or stop by the office. Please include a note with the program you are registering for. Be aware, some programs sell out quickly, and we cannot confirm your spot with a mailed registration.

Cancellation policy:
If we are notified of your need to cancel by 24 hours of program date, your program fee will be refunded except for a $3.00 administrative fee. No refunds within 24 hours or after the event (but most events are transferable). If minimum enrollment has not been met 2 days before program date, programs will be cancelled and we will refund the full amount.
