If you want to know how to survive in the wilderness, you will end up getting to know trees really well. Whether we need to make fire, shelter, tools, or crafts, we turn to trees. If you want to get to know trees really well, nothing matches learning to use and appreciate their individual qualities through the ancient skills of primitive survival.
Join us for morning of activities for learning local trees in a meaningful way, as well as an introduction to skills, abilities and ingenuity of wilderness survival. Kate Spinelli, GARNA Youth Program coordinator and Angie Jenson with Terra Firma Forestry will lead the activities.
Friday Enrichment is a program of the City of Salida recreation department. Each Friday program includes and education portion from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm and unstructured play or other physical activity from noon until 2:00 pm. Please contact the recreation department for information about registering.
Many GARNA programs require a Liability Release Form be filled out each calendar year.
Your registration is secured upon receipt of payment, as long as there space is still available in a program. If you prefer not to register online (recommended), you may mail a check, made out to “GARNA” to the address below or stop by the office. Please include a note with the program you are registering for. Be aware, some programs sell out quickly, and we cannot confirm your spot with a mailed registration.
