Rec Adopters – Browns Creek Campsite Cleanup

Browns Creek Alliance, a Chaffee Recreation Adopters group, is hosting a clean-up day on Monday, May 16 at 9 a.m. at the popular Browns Creek/Raspberry Gulch dispersed camping and recreation area west of Nathrop, at the base of Mount Antero.

The event will focus on about 200 dispersed campsites, where surveys completed last year show an estimated 150 gallons of trash and excessive campfire rings.

Volunteers should bring shovels, buckets and wheelbarrows. Trash bags are provided. Volunteers will meet at 9 am at the intersection of CR 272 and 274.

As a Chaffee Recreation Adopters group, Browns Creek Alliance is comprised of volunteers interested in stewarding and improving national forest lands for the benefit of all users.

Chaffee Recreation Adopters’ mission is to help the community care for all recreation lands in the county. Program participants use a mobile app to assess campsites, report problem areas to land management agencies and take action such as trash pick-up. Adopters also provide more presence in the county’s popular recreation areas.

Many GARNA programs require a Liability Release Form be filled out each calendar year.

Your registration is secured upon receipt of payment, as long as there space is still available in a program. If you prefer not to register online (recommended), you may mail a check, made out to “GARNA” to the address below or stop by the office. Please include a note with the program you are registering for. Be aware, some programs sell out quickly, and we cannot confirm your spot with a mailed registration.

Cancellation policy:

If we are notified of your need to cancel by 24 hours of program date, your program fee will be refunded except for a $3.00 administrative fee. No refunds within 24 hours or after the event (but most events are transferable). If minimum enrollment has not been met 2 days before program date, programs will be cancelled and we will refund the full amount.
