Birder Jacque Fisher will share her knowledge and passion for the spring songsters. Join us for a special experience to look for, listen to, and identify birds by song. Jacque is an expert birder, a program leader at the Crested Butte Wildflower festival for over 14 years, and is especially proficient at birding by ear. Children 12 years and older are welcome. The program site, Mt. Ouray State Wildlife Area, promises to please. On previous trips to the area, 23 species were identified, and a coyote was spotted as well!
Participants are encouraged (but not required) to bring binoculars and a bird guide. All participants should bring water, hat, sunscreen, snacks, wear hiking boots or shoes with good traction, and dress for possible changing weather.
The maximum space for participants in this hike is 12 to ensure optimal conditions for bird-watching. Sign up early to reserve your spot!
This morning field trip will take place at Mt. Ouray State Wildlife Area on Saturday, May 11 from 8:00 am to 11:00 am. The cost for the program is $10 for GARNA members and $20 for non-members. All fees support important stewardship initiatives in the Upper Arkansas Valley. If special assistance is required, please call the GARNA office a few days in advance so accommodations can be made. Many GARNA programs require a Liability Release Form be filled out each calendar year.
Your registration is secured upon receipt of payment, as long as there space is still available in a program. If you prefer not to register online (recommended), you may mail a check, made out to “GARNA” to the address below or stop by the office. Please include a note with the program you are registering for. Be aware, some programs sell out quickly, and we cannot confirm your spot with a mailed registration.

Cancellation policy:
If we are notified of your need to cancel by 24 hours of program date, your program fee will be refunded except for a $3.00 administrative fee. No refunds within 24 hours or after the event (but most events are transferable). If minimum enrollment has not been met 2 days before program date, programs will be cancelled and we will refund the full amount.
