GARNA, in cooperation with Historic St. Elmo / Chalk Creek Canyon is presenting a tour of the historic town of St. Elmo. Melanie Roth, local historian and Chalk Creek Canyon resident, will lead an walking tour of the National Historic District of St. Elmo and highlight preservation efforts in the area. Melanie will take participants on a “cob web” tour of the interior of Stark Bros. Store and Home Comfort. St. Elmo has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1979 and its rich history is still evident when visiting the schoolhouse, cemetery and more.
Melanie has been involved with the preservation efforts in St. Elmo and Chalk Creek Canyon for many years and currently serves as Board President of Historic St. Elmo / Chalk Creek Canyon Inc. (HSE/CCC Inc.)
The tour will held from 10:30 am until 12:00 pm. Please feel free to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy eating on the schoolhouse steps. There will be carpooling coordinated from Salida and Buena Vista.
Cost: $5 for GARNA members for $10 for non-members. Space is limited to 15 participants; advanced registration is required.

Many GARNA programs require a Liability Release Form be filled out each calendar year.
Your registration is secured upon receipt of payment, as long as there space is still available in a program. If you prefer not to register online (recommended), you may mail a check, made out to “GARNA” to the address below or stop by the office. Please include a note with the program you are registering for. Be aware, some programs sell out quickly, and we cannot confirm your spot with a mailed registration.

Cancellation policy:
If we are notified of your need to cancel by 24 hours of program date, your program fee will be refunded except for a $3.00 administrative fee. No refunds within 24 hours or after the event (but most events are transferable). If minimum enrollment has not been met 2 days before program date, programs will be cancelled and we will refund the full amount.
