GARNA and Collegiate Peaks Chapter of Trout Unlimited are teaming up for another year of Stream Explorers to connect youth to the river in their backyard. This four class program is open to middle school youth who are in 5th through 8th grade. Participants will discover the secret lives of creatures that live in the river, perform aquatic behavior experiments, gain experience with fly casting, and learn to tie their own flies.
Fri. 9/13 – Class 1: Intro to Stream Conservation. Investigate aquatic invertebrates through experiments in the classroom and surveying in the Arkansas.
Fri. 9/20 – Class 2: Research fish including their anatomy, stressors, and habitat.
Fri. 9/27 – Class 3: Fly tying, intro to fly rods, and casting activities
Fri. 10/4 – Class 4: Fishing (we will ride a shuttle to our fishing location)
Time: 9 am – 12:30 pm, Oct. 4 9 am – 2 pm for fishing!
Meeting Location: Rotary Scout Hut – 210 E Sackett Avenue
Cost: FREE – costs are covered by sponsorships and grant funding
Many GARNA programs require a Liability Release Form be filled out each calendar year.
Your registration is secured upon receipt of payment, as long as there space is still available in a program. If you prefer not to register online (recommended), you may mail a check, made out to “GARNA” to the address below or stop by the office. Please include a note with the program you are registering for. Be aware, some programs sell out quickly, and we cannot confirm your spot with a mailed registration.

Cancellation policy:
If we are notified of your need to cancel by 24 hours of program date, your program fee will be refunded except for a $3.00 administrative fee. No refunds within 24 hours or after the event (but most events are transferable). If minimum enrollment has not been met 2 days before program date, programs will be cancelled and we will refund the full amount.
