This series is meant to create a space for people to gather in celebration of the natural landscape and community connected by the Arkansas River.
What is a walkabout? Originally used to describe an Australian Aboriginal tradition of walking long distances on a spiritual journey, the word has absorbed many cultural meanings to generally describe a meaningful walk or journey to gain some understanding. “A walkabout requires a decision to take a first step, and a conscious and intentional movement (inwardly, outwardly or both) in the general direction of a longing or calling — with an openness to the actual experience, and a minimal attachment to expectations and results.” Betsy Lewis
Capture the Beauty Nature Photography Walkabout at Cottonwood Lake – Friday, September 18 5:30 – 7:30 pmPlease join GARNA-partner the Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area (AHRA) for an evening of nature photography exploration at the beautiful Cottonwood Lake, west of Buena Vista. With soaring mountains and mirrored lake as our backdrop, we will explore ways to capture nature’s beauty on camera. A hobbyist conservation and nature photographer, Kate will share some tips for achieving beautiful landscape photographs including manual and automatic exposure techniques, natural light use, framing and composition. A Canon 5D full frame camera, lenses and tripod for will be available for participants to try. Bring your photography gear and creative spirit. Since this is a low-light photography outing, a tripod or low-light capable camera is recommended. If you do not have a camera, and wish to just come to learn, you are welcome. There is no fee for this walk. All ages welcome. Carpooling is encouraged if possible, though not arranged by GARNA or AHRA.

Many GARNA programs require a Liability Release Form be filled out each calendar year.
Your registration is secured upon receipt of payment, as long as there space is still available in a program. If you prefer not to register online (recommended), you may mail a check, made out to “GARNA” to the address below or stop by the office. Please include a note with the program you are registering for. Be aware, some programs sell out quickly, and we cannot confirm your spot with a mailed registration.

Cancellation policy:
If we are notified of your need to cancel by 24 hours of program date, your program fee will be refunded except for a $3.00 administrative fee. No refunds within 24 hours or after the event (but most events are transferable). If minimum enrollment has not been met 2 days before program date, programs will be cancelled and we will refund the full amount.
