On Friday, June 10 Arkansas River Outfitters Association (AROA), Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area (AHRA) and GARNA are presenting the 18th Annual Headwaters Institute, an all-day workshop for first year river guides and the public. Lectures and break-out sessions will be presented by numerous local and regional experts. Topics include the history of the Arkansas Valley, water quality, the effects of global climate change on the Arkansas, wildlife and wildflowers found along the river, and local issues such as the Browns Canyon National Monument designation and “Over the River”.
This year’s keynote speaker will be Luis Benitiz, Colorado’s first director of the newly created Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office.
Location: Salida’s Riverside Park and Scout Hut
Cost: $10 for AROA member guides, $20 (general public and non-AROA member guides) and includes lunch and pizza and beer after party.
Pre-registration is required.
Many GARNA programs require a Liability Release Form be filled out each calendar year.
Your registration is secured upon receipt of payment, as long as there space is still available in a program. If you prefer not to register online (recommended), you may mail a check, made out to “GARNA” to the address below or stop by the office. Please include a note with the program you are registering for. Be aware, some programs sell out quickly, and we cannot confirm your spot with a mailed registration.

Cancellation policy:
If we are notified of your need to cancel by 24 hours of program date, your program fee will be refunded except for a $3.00 administrative fee. No refunds within 24 hours or after the event (but most events are transferable). If minimum enrollment has not been met 2 days before program date, programs will be cancelled and we will refund the full amount.
