The GARNA Photography Club is organizing a day trip to the Great Sand Dunes National Park on Saturday, November 7. The group will be led by local photographer Ed Berg.
The group will meet at the Great Sand Dunes Visitor’s Center at 7:00 am to share a photography experience like no other. The focus of the trip will be on communicating our individual responses to the solitude, grandeur, and stark beauty of this unique natural setting. The combination of other-worldly land-forms, changing light, and near absence of vegetation creates a photographers dream and an extraordinary opportunity to see nature through different eyes. This event is a wonderful chance for photo buffs to share ideas, techniques, and experiment photographing this extraordinary area. Local photographer Ed Berg will share his experience of photographing and publishing his book of poems and photos to record his own responses to the Great Sand Dunes (Sand, Wind and Light). We will discuss and determine a date for a follow up program to share photos of the trip.
Basic park information, local weather, and directions to the Great Sand Dunes can be found here. It takes about an hour and 45 minutes to drive from Salida to the Sand Dunes. There may be a ride share and if so, they will leave Salida at 5:00 am. If the weather is uncooperative, the trip will be postponed.

This event is free to GARNA members and $5 for non members – online registration is available via pay pal below. There is a $15 park entrance fee that participants are responsible for when they arrive.

Many GARNA programs require a Liability Release Form be filled out each calendar year.
Your registration is secured upon receipt of payment, as long as there space is still available in a program. If you prefer not to register online (recommended), you may mail a check, made out to “GARNA” to the address below or stop by the office. Please include a note with the program you are registering for. Be aware, some programs sell out quickly, and we cannot confirm your spot with a mailed registration.

Cancellation policy:
If we are notified of your need to cancel by 24 hours of program date, your program fee will be refunded except for a $3.00 administrative fee. No refunds within 24 hours or after the event (but most events are transferable). If minimum enrollment has not been met 2 days before program date, programs will be cancelled and we will refund the full amount.
