Next time you take a walk around Sands Lake, wouldn’t it be nice to be able to tell your kids and grand kids what types of birds are making Salida their year-round home? Because Salida-area lakes do not usually freeze during the winter, this makes for great habitat for winter waterfowl. Join GARNA and Sally Waterhouse for an introduction to identifying duck and geese species at Sands Lake State Wildlife Area.
This program is open to all ages and will be a great activity for kids and families.
Sally is a former biology professor at Ohio Wesleyan University, an environmental educator in both private nature centers and state parks in Ohio, and presently a volunteer for Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Central Colorado Conservancy and GARNA. Sally is also a life-long birder and enjoys sharing her knowledge and love of birds identification and bird behavior.
Detailed meeting location and times will be provided to registered participants.
The cost of the program is $5 for individual GARNA members, $7 for individual non-members and $10 for families. Fees support coordination and promotion of GARNA programs.

Many GARNA programs require a Liability Release Form be filled out each calendar year.
Your registration is secured upon receipt of payment, as long as there space is still available in a program. If you prefer not to register online (recommended), you may mail a check, made out to “GARNA” to the address below or stop by the office. Please include a note with the program you are registering for. Be aware, some programs sell out quickly, and we cannot confirm your spot with a mailed registration.

Cancellation policy:
If we are notified of your need to cancel by 24 hours of program date, your program fee will be refunded except for a $3.00 administrative fee. No refunds within 24 hours or after the event (but most events are transferable). If minimum enrollment has not been met 2 days before program date, programs will be cancelled and we will refund the full amount.
