The GARNA volunteer chapter, Friends of Fourmile, has recently been working with the BLM and National Forest Foundation to improve management of overnight camping in the Fourmile Travel Management Area. With equipment support from local contractor, Overlook Earth Movers, they installed designated site posts, placed closure rocks, scarified undesignated campsites and removed and cleaned up inappropriate fire rings. This project is part of the bigger Camping Management plan the BLM is in the process of implementing and also involves the Chaffee Rec Adopters program, which brings together volunteers to work with land agencies to accomplish goals from the Chaffee Rec Plan.

This small but mighty group of volunteers accomplishes a lot!!  You can check out more of what Friends of Fourmile is doing on their Facebook Page.
